In fact, the situation is so extreme that the main road was completely inactive and blocked for four long months! And how was the passage reopened? To cross the danger, the veteran driver of the expedition had to bend ancestral tradition!

To clear the path, it was necessary to make a traditional offering of respect to the local Soba (chief), delivering wine, fish, salt, sugar, and cigarettes! Only after this ritual and with the consent of the traditional authority could his men get to work and open an alternative path entirely by hand, using only brute force!
