Taking a Boat from Luanda to Mussulo

The Embarcadero is a small port located close to Morro Bento, and it's very well known to locals. You can easily reach it from the city centre using a ride-hailing service, taxi, or moto-taxi.

When you first arrive, the busy and dynamic atmosphere can feel a little chaotic and overwhelming. Don't let it stress you out — getting to Mussulo is actually very straightforward. Here's how:

You have two main options:

1. Private Boat (Exclusive Hire) You can rent the entire boat for your group and ask the boatman to drop you off at any specific point along the beach you prefer.

2. Shared Boat (Collective Taxi) You can simply wait for the boat to fill up with passengers and board. During the trip, just tell the boatman where you want to get off, and he will stop at your chosen spot.

The shared option is by far the cheapest and most common. Boats run regularly throughout the day, especially on weekends and public holidays.

Returning from Mussulo When you're ready to head back to Luanda, it's even simpler: just wait on the beach and wave your hand when you see a boat approaching. The boatman will stop and pick you up.

Approximate Fares (2026):

  • Private boat (whole boat): 6,000 to 8,000 Kwanzas
  • Shared boat (per person): around 300 Kwanzas

It's a quick, fun, and authentic way to travel between Luanda and Mussulo. Enjoy the ride!
